Your pre-wedding beauty guide

Before we start talking beauty - let me say, Congratulations! This is an exciting time for you and for your skin. I know a lot of people feel like they need to go the extra mile before their wedding and switch things up, but I truly am a firm believer in keeping things consistent. As a bridal makeup artist in London, I have seen lots and lots of brides going too strong and wrong, so I made this mini guide for you. (Disclaimer: this is not an alternative to professional consultation and it's always best to go and see a skin therapist who can see your face in person).

So Here are my recommended beauty treatments, along with a skin care regimen and timeline before your big day. Of course - you don't have to do ANYTHING I say, I just like to show my clients all the options. If you already have a routine and products you like - by all means keep on using them!

bridal skin care regimen

3 Months before the wedding Start a solid skincare routine. Wash your face morning and evening and make sure to moisturise. This is a good time to see a specialist if you have any skin concerns.

Three weeks before the wedding If you're thinking about having Botox or injectable treatment, I think this would be the right time. There are some beautiful injectible treatments one can have before the wedding like Juvederm Volite or polynucleotides - both plump and rejuvenate the skin. I recommend seeing Dr Julia Coelho. I see her personally and love her gentle approach.

The Week Before the Wedding

  • Get a facial. I am a big fan of Hydrafacial before your wedding. It's a non-invasive facial that just hydrates and brings your skin to life. It gives an incredible natural glow, that every brde wants, and it peeks about 5 days after the treatment. There are lots of locations in London that offer Hydrafacial. I personally go to A+ Clinic in Hampstedn for that.

  • Start using Hyaluronic Acid every night (I recommend Dr. Strum—get the smaller size; it’s worth it!). Combine it with an acid toner (Ole Henriksen Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner is great ).  2-3 times a week. Less is more! Seal it with a moisturizer.

  • Use a lip mask or treatment every night (I love 8 Hours by Elizabeth Arden).

Avoid:

  • I would advise you to avoid Lash Serums two weeks before the wedding as they could cause a stye on your lash line or lids and then we won’t be able to use any eye makeup!

To Do: The Week of the Wedding

  • Eyebrow threading (if desired) 3-4 days before.

  • Spray tan 3-2 days before.

  • Nails 2-1 days before.

Avoid:

  • Hot Wax on your face

The big day!

It's your wedding day!! If I am your makeup artist - you don't have to worry. Skin prep is one of my services. I often tailor a mask for your skin and we'll do it before we start (I wrote a different post about my favourite masks).

The Checklist: Things You Need to Have with You on the Day

  • Mini deodorant

  • Your perfume

  • Plasters (band-aids)

  • Wipes
